Commission on Visual Anthropology




Baojiang is an anthropologist and filmmaker at present living in Beijing as an advanced research fellow of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He finished his M.A. curriculum of visual anthropology with Prof. Barbara Keifenheim at East Asian Institute of Visual Anthropology in Kunming in 2000. Since then he’s done several research projects based on anthropological fieldwork with camera in hand including the one for his Ph.D. with advisor Prof. Song Shuhua finished in 2003. His main academic interest is symbol theory, specifically the trinity of person, symbol and community.
